Decision Notes · No. 007

Experience gives us confidence in our judgment. But I believe it should also teach us when another perspective may be worth hearing.
I’ve learned that asking for a second opinion doesn’t mean doubting your own judgment. Sometimes it is simply a way of testing or validating it.
Another perspective may challenge an assumption, uncover something we hadn’t considered, or make us look at the same situation from a different angle.
And interestingly, a second opinion doesn’t always lead to a different decision. Sometimes it does the opposite: it reinforces the decision we were already considering, but with greater clarity and conviction.
For me, knowing when to trust my own judgment and when to invite another perspective has become one of the valuable lessons that comes with experience.
Has a second opinion ever changed — or strengthened — an important decision for you?
